Dave Elderton is an avid canoeist, amateur photographer and wilderness
camper from Vancouver. He built his first sailing canoe rig 10
years ago, and has been changing and improving his rig every year
since. The current version is built around the John Winters
designed 16.5 foot Kevlar Swift Dumoine. The outrigger is a
12-foot HV from Easy Rider. The sail rig is a scaled down version from
the Tasar dingy with a rotating wing mast.
Dave and his wife Carmen take several week long trips in the boat every
summer and have traveled in the gulf islands, desolation sound, Barkley
Sound, Nootka Sound and the Sechelt Peninsula. Dave also does day trips
with a strange bunch of friends with canoe rigs. The couple also enjoys
white water canoeing, hiking and snowshoeing.
